Santa Barbara Island

Santa Barbara Island boasts some of the best offshore diving sites. These dive sites can be reached by visiting boats. These are excellent hunting and photography areas, and often rocky. These areas are home to healthy kelp and purple hydro coral. The visibility is also excellent for Southern California waters.

It is possible to kayak and snorkel on the island. If it is dry, tent camping can be done. It is also home to large numbers of pinnipeds such as harbor seals, northern Elephant seals, and California Sea Lions. These animals can also be found in the rocky areas around a sea lion rookery. They are located at many overlooks on island.

Anacapa Island

Anacapa Island has a diverse marine life. One of the United States’ first Marine Protected Areas has been established in this area. The region offers diving that is not only great for beginners but also for seasoned divers. The waters around the island have a moderately warm temperature, which makes them ideal for wetsuit diving. In late summer and autumn, the surface temperatures can reach 70°F (21°C). However, temperatures can fall to a low of 50deg F (10deg C) during the colder months of winter. It is recommended that you use a 7mm waterproof suit. These months are when visibility is generally at least 100 feet (30M).

You can reach Anacapa by diving charter boats as well as the Island Packers. There are numerous dive sites available on the island, including a 40-foot-tall arch rock. These sites can be viewed by snorkeling gear.
