
Many ice skating opportunities are available at the UIUC Ice Arena. UIUC's synchronized skating team is nationally ranked, and their performers have competed at the world and national levels. Tickets to the UIUC's spring show are $5 for general seating and $7 if you reserve seating.
University of Illinois Ice Arena
Champaign's University of Illinois Ice Arena is also known by the Big Pond. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are many events held at the rink, including ice hockey.

Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign maintains an ice rink that is available to the public. You can host a group event at the rink by following these steps. First, make a reservation. This can be done at the Illini Union RSO Office (Room 284). You will need to provide a list of participants when you reserve ice time. In addition, you'll need to arrange for a supervisor to be at the rink to answer any questions you may have during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena's Center Ice Cafe is open to the public. The cafe, located next to the Customer Service Office offers food and beverages. A wide range of accessories for skating and hockey are available at the Ice Arena Pro Shop.
Free skate trainers
Champaign, Illinois' University of Illinois Ice Arena (UIUC). It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena can be accessed by the public throughout the year at no cost. The public can use this rink to practice their skateboarding and figure skating skills.
Spring Show

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
An Illini-Alert has been issued by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign following a gas leak at their ice arena. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To prevent contamination, firefighters blocked the sideway leading to the arena. It is believed that the leak originated beneath the building.
