You can become a Cavern Diver

If you are considering becoming a cavern diver, you will need to complete a scuba diving course. The course includes four scuba divers. The first is an outdoors practice dive. Here you will learn the basics of handling line, reel, avoiding silt, and managing air. Your instructor will show you how plan your dive, and keep your air and orientation under control. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to dive in caves or other caves with safety rules.

Safety

Cave diving safety protocols follow the Rule of Threes. The cave diver should have three types of light sources and at least two tanks. They should also separate their gas into three distinct sections in order to have enough to last the dive. If the dive team has experience in diving in caves, a more conservative gas management plan will be preferred. Cave divers should not only avoid cave hazards but also practice safe diving practices.

Equipment

Cave diving requires specific equipment. It is important to carry two types of safety reels. One should be used as a guideline reel, and the other should be used during the dive. When preparing for a cavern dive, make sure that each diver has a safety reel with sufficient line to reach the cave's entrance and the farthest permanent line. Manufacturers will often pack the reels up to the edge with guideline when making a new reel. This makes them more susceptible to jamming. To avoid jamming, remove approximately 10 meters (30ft), of line prior to use.

Maximum penetration

TDI offers a cavern divers course. This course is for scuba divers who desire to dive in areas without direct vertical access. This includes diving into caverns and overhangs. Although it is not necessary to take a cavern diving course, this course will give you the skills and knowledge to make the most of this environment. You will learn how safe to navigate narrow spaces that are often hidden from public view.

Maximum depth

Cavern diving has some limitations. You must never dive at night, and be aware of your limits. Cavern diving requires advanced training, which is not the case for other types. To be able to dive in caverns safely, you will need to know the basics and understand your limits. Before diving in caverns, you will need to have had some experience. Once you have this experience, you can start your adventure into the world cavern dive!
