scuba meaning

Costa Rica has a wide range of aquatic life that draws divers. Some of the species you can expect to see in Costa Rica waters include humpback whales, dolphins, orcas, turtles, hammerhead sharks, bull sharks, and manta rays. Costa Rica is the perfect place to be a seasoned diver. No matter your level of diving experience, Costa Rica has many diving destinations for you.

Cano Island

Cano Island has turquoise waters that make for great snorkeling and diving. The region is home to some of the most abundant coral-building organisms in the world, including brain and head corals. The region's clear waters are home for manta rays and humpback whales as well as other large marine animals. In the rainy months, accommodations and prices will be lower and people will be less.

Islas Murcielagos

One of the top Costa Rica dive sites, the Islas Murcielagos are a group of islands located in the southern tip of the Santa Elena Peninsula, just north of Papagayo. These islands offer excellent visibility and are surrounded by ocean. This area is home to many species of fish, rays and other marine life. It is also an excellent place to spot bull Sharks and olive ridley Turtles.

Catalina Island

Catalina Island offers a unique diving experience. These uninhabited islands can only be found two to fifteen miles off Costa Rica's northwest coast. The area has similar visibility and temperatures to the Pacific Coast. However, there are differences in the water. Catalina Island has the ideal environment for those who want to dive in warm and calm waters with abundant marine life.
